Travel insurance is essential for applying for a Resident Permit in Finland. You can buy this insurance from international companies like Swisscare, AON student insurance, the US company international student insurance, etc. Getting insurance from an international company might be tedious, as you have to work with the bank and there are whole lot of processes that you have to go through. If you're willing to go through those processes then, good. But, if you don't want to make your life difficult, there are insurance companies that provide your insurance at a very reasonable price.
Before going to buy the insurance, here are a few things that you need:
1. Money (of course, right?)
2. Your Passport (Yeah, your passport, not your citizenship.)
3. Your offer letter. (They asked me, so yeah)
Things to remember before buying the insurance
1. First thing first, make sure you're entering the right building. I spent half an hour on the building next to the insurance wondering whether the Google Maps was right or wrong.
2. Note that insurance excess must not be more than 300 euros.
3. Make sure you tell them the date from where you want the insurance to be active. The insurance company will start the insurance at the same day you purchase the insurance which is a loss as you might not immediately move to Finland. It is recommended to start the insurance one month before the University starts.
4. Keep the insurance document safe and sound. You need the original insurance document at the time of the interview.
Domestic Insurance Companies
These are the companies that provide travel insurance to the students who are applying to Finland. There might be other companies as well but these are the ones that we know of currently.

The insurance companies in Nepal provide insurance at a very affordable price, and since it's from Nepal, you will have more flexibility regarding when to do it and how much to pay for it. Currently, we are known about these three companies, we are consulting with other companies whether they provide such insurance or not.
