After your application is accepted by the university of your choice and the university provides you the offer letter. You will be required to pay the tuition fees. The tuition fees really depend upon the university to which one is applying. The university will provide you with the information of the bank that you need to send your money to. In addition to that, universities also have deadlines before which you need to send the money.
You can send your fees from any A-grade bank in Nepal. Make sure either you or your sponsors have an account in the bank. If they don't have account, then, a new bank account is required to be created.
Documents required
1. NOC letter
In order to send your tuition fees, you need to obtain an NOC certificate. This certificate is very essential for you to transfer your fees. No bank in Nepal will transfer your fees without this certificate. You can obtain this certificate from the NOC office of the government. You can apply for this certificate from the official NOC website.
2. Offer letter
You need to print your offer letter and provide it to the bank through which you will transfer your tuition fees. Remember, the offer letter must be the same offer letter that was used to obtain the NOC certificate.
3. PAN Card
To transfer fees, you need to have a PAN Card. If you're sending your fees by yourself, you need to have your PAN card. If your parents or any sponsor is transferring your fees, then their PAN card is required. If the PAN card is not available, you can make it from the Inland Revenue Department.
4. Citizenship
If you, yourself, are transferring your fees, then you are required to submit your citizenship to the bank. If your sponsors or parents are transferring your fees, then their citizenship is required.
Charges and Other Fees
1. SWIFT Charge
When the bank transfer money from Nepal to other countries of the world, they need to use the SWIFT system which is sort of banking system for the entire world. When we use this system, it requires us to pay some charges which ranges from 0.10% to 0.20% of the amount that is being transferred. But, really it depends on the bank itself.
2. Bank Charges
When we use the bank's services to transfer our fees to other countries. Bank also charge us an amount. This hugely depends on the bank that you're using and the amount you're sending. I believe it's usually 1% of the amount but I am not sure.
3. Education Charge
The Government of Nepal also charges up to 3% tax to the students who are trying to study abroad. This tax is refundable but usually takes a lot of time to refund.
Things to Remember
1. The fund that you send from the bank usually takes 2 to 3 days to reach the destination bank. You also need to take care of the fact that the international banks are closed on Saturday and Sunday. Therefore, it might affect the successful deposit of your fund in the destination bank.
2. You also need to make your NOC certificate with the right information. If any information is found to be mistaken by the bank, then the bank will reject the fund transfer application.
